Learn a few ceramic basics with Mylan Nguyen, local artist and purveyor of sweet and spooky things. This workshop will instruct participants in basic handbuilding techniques such as wedging, slab building and hand forming, finishing the class with two styles of incense burners and incense sticks for creating your own scents at home.  Masks will be worn in the studio while working. Ceramics will be low-fired and glazed before being mailed back to participants. Ticket cost includes packing and shipping. 

Mylan Nguyen is a multimedia, Dallas-based Vietnamese-Mexican artist. She received a BFA in Illustration from Otis College of Art and Design and went on to study ceramics in Japan. She is a current MFA graduate student at SMU, and one part of Brujitas Workshop, an artist collective based in Oak Cliff. Her work centers on intentionally cute, narrative characters and playful objects using ceramics, printmaking, painting, and installation.
