CLAIRE MOORE
Claire Moore (born 1976, Austin, TX) is a Dallas based artist that creates paintings and photographs inspired by the shifting relationship between people and the natural world. Works range from intimate meditations on plant-life created amidst the pandemic to painterly photographs taken through the marred acrylic windows of speeding NYC subway cars as they traverse dense urban landscapes. Moore received her BFA from the University of Texas at Austin, MFA from Hunter College in New York City, and MA in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. Artistic influences include Georgia O’Keeffe’s placed-based art-making practice, Lucio Fontana’s incised canvases, and the indelible influence working as an educator at museums in New York City (The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Brooklyn Museum of Art) and Texas (Dallas Museum of Art) has had on her understanding and appreciation of art created around the world and across time.
