Contemporary Quilting: Two-Part Class with Megan Ruth Bowdon
November 14, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$85Learn the basics of hand and machine sewing through making miniature quilts from found materials. The first class will lead participants through a simple quilt design with upholstery fabric and discuss how a traditional craft can be recontextualized through material choice. The second class will introduce found-object quilting and 3D formats.
In this series, Megan Ruth Bowdon scored hundreds of antique stores in search of handmade embroidery. By quilting the found pieces and divorcing them from their original context, she calls attention to personal gestures that have been left behind and reconsidered.
This is a two-part class. Tickets are for both November 7th and November 11th dates and cannot be sold separately. Each session will run approximately from 6:30-9:30.
