JD MOORE
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, James Douglas Moore III, commonly known as "J.D.", has been working as a full time artist in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 2013 when he graduated from a tattoo apprenticeship under Gerald Garcia at Last Angels Tattoo Co.
His painting work features narrative driven oil/acrylic portraiture influenced by the Renaissance, Neoclassicism, and Realism periods. In 2017 JD introduced how he communicates through his figurative work in the February issue of The Plano Profile Magazine and then on Austere.com following his two week Residency in
Oquevaux, France. In August of 2018 JD completed a month-long residency at La Macina di San Cresci in Tuscany, Italy to study fresco painting under Emanuele Capozza. In late 2019 JD was commissioned by the Deep Ellum Foundation and then by the Thanks-Giving Foundation to install his first two public murals in Dallas, Tx. Through 2020 & 2021 he has continued to produce private and public commissions. Presently he is making work for a new series of paintings while tattooing and pursuing more mural opportunities.
